SARATOGA (WNE) — The name of a North Dakota man who died in Saratoga's hot springs last week has been released.
In the early morning hours of Sept. 8, according to a release from the Saratoga Police Department, the Carbon County Sheriff's Office received a call about a man, now identified as Cary Garmann from Waterford City, North Dakota, at the Saratoga Hobo Hot Pool. He was not breathing and was receiving CPR.
South Central Wyoming Emergency Medical Services, the Saratoga Volunteer Fire Department and the SPD were dispatched to the hot pool. When the police department arrived, CPR was continued and a defibrillator was used. When the EMTs arrived, the man was declared dead on scene.
Garmann, 64, had been soaking in the hot pool. It was noticed he was floating underwater and not moving. He was removed from the water by others and CPR was started.
Temperatures from geothermal activity at the Saratoga Hobo Hot Pool can exceed 108 degrees Fahrenheit in the main pool while the "lobster pot" averages around 119 degrees Fahrenheit.
The manner and cause of his death has yet to be determined by the Carbon County Coroner's Office, and the investigation is still ongoing.
