Matthew Scott Cooper passed away on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023, at his home in Powell. He was born Feb. 19, 1989, in Powell, Wyoming to Chris Cooper and Melissa Ehrmantraut. Matt was in a hurry to get here and was born in the Powell ER six minutes after his parents arrived. Matt went to school at Southside Elementary, Powell Middle School, and finished out his education at Powell High School. He graduated in 2007.

Matt worked several jobs in his adult life, with his favorite being a heater operator in the oil field. He found a lot of joy doing that work. He was very proud of his accomplishments and achieved his white hard hat for all his hard work. When Matt wasn’t working, you could find him at a lake or river fishing. He loved the outdoors and spent as much time as he could being outside. He liked going target shooting with his dad and brother CJ. Matt loved collecting coins and spent a lot of time researching information on them. He also loved to tear apart and rebuild computer systems. He got quite proficient at it. Matt loved our country and was very vocal about our government. He was very proud to be an American. During football season, there was only one team Matt would root for: the Green Bay Packers. He was an avid fan and a cheesehead through and through.

The most important people in Matt’s life were his family and close friends. Matt and his brother CJ had a lot of love for each other and had many happy memories they shared together. Matt always tried to make people around him laugh and be happy. He loved those close to him fiercely and will always be remembered.

Matt is survived by his father Chris (Renee) Cooper of Custer, South Dakota, his mother Melissa (Mike) Ehrmantraut of Powell, Wyoming, grandmothers Becky Borgen of Custer, South Dakota, and Mary Yoe McCamant of Montrose, Iowa, brothers CJ (Shannon Krei) Cooper of Powell, Wyoming, Trevor (Alyxandra) Georgius of Powell, Wyoming, and Alex Ehrmantraut of Cody, Wyoming, sisters Tonya Georgius of Spanaway, Washington, Tayler (Cody) Aguilar of Joliet, Montana, and Katy Ehrmantraut of Kemmerer, Wyoming, and dear friend Joanna Meyer, along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
