Man rescued from Crandall area

First responders teamed up to evacuate a 75-year-old man from the Crandall area on Saturday afternoon.

Park County Search and Rescue says its members were paged around 2:45 p.m. to help the man, who was involved in a horse accident near Table Mountain. The man was described as having injuries to his head, neck and back.

A First Flight of Wyoming helicopter flew two members of search and rescue’s Hasty Team to the backcountry area, while two ground teams were dispatched to provide additional help.

Once they got to the scene, search and rescue members helped EMS personnel get the man ready for a return flight to Cody Regional Health, where his condition was unknown.

In a Facebook post, search and rescue said that First Flight’s assistance was “critical” in reaching the patient.

“We’re grateful for the coordination and teamwork that makes it possible to reach patients in remote areas when every minute matters,” the post said in part.

Search and rescue wrapped up its work around 9:45 p.m.

Those interested in learning more about the organization’s work can stop by the search and rescue hall in Cody (721 15th St.) from 4-7 p.m. Saturday for an open house. Search and rescue says it’s an opportunity to meet the men and women who volunteer with the organization and to “get an inside look at what it takes to serve our communities in the challenging terrain of Park County.”
