Livingston Elementary School’s music teacher has been honored for her work.
Ari Joskow was recently selected as the North Big Horn Basin Young Music Educator of the Year.
This distinction is awarded by the Wyoming Music Educators Association (WMEA) and recognizes young educators who have made exemplary contributions to the music experiences of their students.
Joskow’s nomination stems from her innovation, dedication and impact on students, according to a Livingston Elementary release. “Her music room is alive with energy and creativity — students regularly compose their own musicals, produce music videos and engage in student-led learning experiences that foster independence and expression,” the release states. “Her classroom isn’t just about music; it’s about growing confident, curious learners.”
The WMEA Young Music Educator of the Year Award is presented annually to a current Wyoming music educator with six or fewer years of teaching experience who is a member of WMEA. Nominees are selected through a rigorous process involving peer and administrator recommendations, and the final state recipient is chosen by the WMEA Executive Board. The winner will be honored at the All-State Banquet in January.
“Ari has transformed what music education looks like at Livingston,” said Allison Lewis, principal of Livingston Elementary. “She incorporates hands-on, real-world learning into her instruction and collaborates across grade levels to integrate music into the core curriculum. Her students don’t just learn music — they live it.”
In addition to her teaching role, Miss Joskow is also a proud participant in the governor’s RIDE (Reimagining and Innovating the Delivery of Education) initiative. Through this work, she has helped bring 21st-century learning strategies to life by blending creativity, collaboration and student choice into every lesson.
Her recognition as the Young Music Educator of the Year for the North Big Horn Basin puts her in the running for the statewide award.
