Wyoming legislators recently met directly with members of President Trump’s cabinet and White House officials to discuss key issues impacting the State of Wyoming and communities across the West. White House State Leadership Conference attendees included Cody Reps. Rachel Rodriguez-Williams and Nina Webber, and Powell Sen. Dan Laursen.
Among the topics discussed was the development of a new coal-fired power plant, a conversation held with Interior Secretary Doug Burgum. Legislators shared Wyoming’s perspective on the importance of reliable, affordable energy production and explored opportunities for federal support of next-generation coal technologies.
Additional discussions included the Rural Health Transformation Fund with Dr. Mehmet Oz, addressing the unique healthcare challenges facing rural communities. Legislators also engaged with federal officials on combatting drug trafficking, data center development, and ending wind and solar subsidies. “It was an honor to bring the concerns and priorities of Wyoming citizens directly to decision-makers in Washington, D.C.,” said Rodriguez-Williams.
Park County legislators noted the willingness of Cabinet members to listen to state concerns and work toward meaningful solutions.
“Having the opportunity to represent Wyoming was a tremendous honor. I am so grateful for the opportunity to advocate on behalf of the people I serve,” said Rodriguez-Williams.
