Powell Library is busy for the summer. There are a lot of fun things to do in July as we finish up summer reading and end the month with the Park County Fair. There is still time to sign up for summer reading if you haven’t already. In celebration of summer reading, stop by at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 8 for the Cody Landstrom Magic Show at the open air pavilion at the fairgrounds; bring the whole family for this fun show. The last day for summer reading is Friday, July 18.
Make sure and support the Park County Library as the Park County Library Foundation participates in WyoGives on Wednesday, July 16. This is a great opportunity to donate to the library. This year the foundation is asking for financial support for a special children’s interactive covered wagon for the new Powell Library. For more information contact the library to learn more on how you can support the library on July 16.
The Powell Library is offering Beginning Crochet for all ages. Join us at 6 p.m. on Monday, July 7 to start learning how to crochet.
Grab your Altered Book Club kit after July 9 and create a hanging book mobile.
Craft time for ages 10 and up will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15. Come create botanical prints through sun printing. This program will be held at Veteran’s Park.
All ages craft time will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 11. Come to the Powell Library and paint your own Pet Rock.
Join us for Adult Craft Night at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 17 to make your own Seed Mosaic art. Adult Craft Night will be at the Powell Elks Lodge at 581 Clark St.
Powell Library is offering three different book discussions for all your literary tastes. All book discussions meet at the Homesteader Hall meeting room. Tuesday Afternoon Book Discussion meets at 2 p.m. on July 8 where we will be discussing “Summer at Tiffany” by Marjorie Hart. Join us for Fiction to Film Book Discussion at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 10 to discuss “Schindler’s List” by Thomas Keneally. The Tuesday evening book group will meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8, and will discuss “How Can I Help You,” by Laura Sims.
Powell Library is offering Tech Tuesday. Sign up for a one-on-one session with Park County Library IT who can help you with your device problems. Tech Tuesday will be on the 15th, signups required.
Parents, we will be offering two special storytimes in addition to our regular program. Join us at 10:30 a.m. at Wednesday, July 9 for Storytime at the Caboose at the Homesteader Museum. Then join us at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16 for Storytime at the Storywalk at Homesteader Park. Bring the kids to the Powell Library for our wonderful children’s programming. We will have Toddler Time at 10:30 a.m. every Thursday. Join us at 10:30 a.m. every Wednesday for Storytime. Parents remember we have Early Literacy Kits as well as tonies for checkout. Also sign up your child for 1000 Books before Kindergarten. Make sure and check out the new book at the Storywalk at Homesteader Park. This month’s story is “Early One Morning,” by Virginia Baily.
Reminder — the Powell Library will be closed Tuesday, July 22 through Friday, July 24 for the Park County Fair but make sure to visit our Outreach Van and table at the fair. We will have lots of activities as we have fun at the county fair.
