Four Shillings Short, an Irish folk music duo, is swinging through Park County on its farewell tour.
From 6-7 p.m. Sept. 29 at the Powell Library, the duo will hold its free family Celebration of Ireland concert, which takes the audience on a journey to the Emerald Isle with traditional toe-tapping tunes, songs in Gaelic and English, folklore, history and Irish poetry. Four Shillings Short, the husband/wife duo of Aodh Og O’Tuama from Cork, Ireland and Christy Martin from California, have been touring in the U.S. and Ireland since 1997.
From 5:30-7 p.m. Oct. 1 the two will be at the Cody Library for a Samhain Concert — Music, stories and folklore from the Emerald Isle for the Celtic Festival of the Ancestors. A Samhain Concert brings together music, stories and folklore from the Celtic lands to celebrate the Ancient Celtic Bonfire festival of Samhain, known as Féile na Marbh (the Feast of the Dead). Samhain (pronounced 'sow-in' meaning 'the Summer's end') marks the end of harvest, beginning of Winter and the Celtic New Year.
After 31 years of touring in the U.S. and Ireland, Four Shillings Short's Farewell Tour goes summer 2026 through the winter of 2028. In those years, the duo will travel to all their favorite towns and venues in the United States one final time before retiring to live in Ireland.

Their music is a mix of traditional and original music from the Celtic lands, Medieval and Renaissance Europe, India and the Americas which they perform on more than 30 instruments, including hammered & mountain dulcimer, mandolin, mandola, bouzouki, recorders, tinwhistles, Medieval and Renaissance woodwinds, North Indian sitar, charango, bowed psaltery, banjo, Native American flutes, bodhran, guitar, ukulele, doumbek and darbuka, spoons, vocals and even a krumhorn.
