Gerry Thomas Parker, 63, of Columbia, Tennessee, went to be with Jesus on Monday, Aug. 29, 2022, around 7:15 p.m., surrounded by his loving family.  

He was born in Dickson, Tennessee, on Oct. 9, 1958, to the late Floyd N. Parker and Lillie Estelle Bentle Parker. Gerry was a 1977 graduate of Dickson County High School. In 1982, he received his bachelor’s degree in Religious Education and a minor in History from David Lipscomb University. On Dec. 13, 1980, he married Elizabeth Anne Rummage Parker.

Gerry was a Kingdom preacher and believed that salvation is for everyone. He spent his life sharing the gospel from Guyana to Russia, and across the United States. Having a servant’s heart, he was a teacher, preacher, and pastoral counselor, holding positions in Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Colorado, and Wyoming. Gerry was loved and admired by his family and friends

In addition to his wife, Elizabeth, he is survived by his children, Jennifer Johnson, Tina Winters (Richard), Gerry Thomas Parker II (Caitlyn), Mary-Elizabeth Gibson (Charles), Timothy Parker (Brooke), Hannah Parker, and the many added to the extended family he claimed as his own; grandchildren, Alicia, Daniel, Skyler, Colton, Naomi, and Jefferson; great-grandchildren, Averie and Aubrey; brothers, Larry Parker (Clara), Floyd Parker, Ernest Parker (Bonnie), Edwin Parker (Amy); sister-in-law, Lynette Parker; nieces, nephews, and his second “mother,” Aunt Bet Parker. 

In addition to his parents, Floyd and Lillie, Gerry was preceded in death by his brother, Courtney Parker.

Symbolic pallbearers are Timothy Parker, Thomas Parker, Chris Galleon, Charles Gibson, Richard Winters, Ben Long, and Tommy Emery. 

Honorary pallbearers include Larry Parker, Floyd Parker, Ernest Parker, Edwin Parker, Pat Long, Robert  Rummage, Randy Rummage, Todd Parsley, Jim Stoltz, Jeremy Butt, Randy Wells, the Goads, Dan Buie, and Richard Taylor.  

A memorial service for Gerry will be held Saturday, Sept. 3, at 11 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home, in Columbia, Tennessee. The family will visit with friends Friday, Sept. 2, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com
