The Park County Republican Party is marking America’s 250th anniversary with patriotic presentations, music and a flyover by historic airplanes.
The party’s annual Freedom Celebration is set for 1-2 p.m. Friday.
After being held at a different venue last year, the celebration is returning to the State of Wyoming Veterans Memorial Park in Cody, “which seems very appropriate for America 250,” said organizer Nicole Forsberg.
The keynote speakers are Sam and Gulsum Kuntz of Clark.
Sam Kuntz is a military veteran — having been with the 3rd Battalion 6th Marines — and he’ll share his perspective on what it means to serve the United States. His wife, Gulsum Kuntz, immigrated from Turkey and will speak about her path to citizenship and her pride in recently becoming an American citizen.
There will also be music and a flyover by T-34 airplanes, which have been used to train Navy and Marine Corps pilots. Organizers will also be distributing small patriotic flags.
“It’s a great thing to bring your family to,” Forsberg said.
Veterans Memorial Park is located at 2513 Greybull Highway (U.S. Highway 14/16/20), just west of Yellowstone Regional Airport.
