A Monday afternoon shooting at a residence in Byron resulted in death and multiple injuries that required hospitalization, authorities say.
"Our hearts and prayers go out to all those whom have been affected by this tragedy," Big Horn County Sheriff Ken Blackburn wrote in a Monday evening news release.
Blackburn said his office received a 911 call around 1:30 p.m. reporting shots at a residence on Byron's south side. When personnel from the sheriff's office, the Wyoming Highway Patrol and the Lovell Police Department arrived at the scene, they "observed multiple victims of gunshots within the residence, both alive and deceased," Blackburn wrote.
"Multiple individuals were transported by ambulance to North Big Horn Hospital in Lovell, Wyoming for emergency care," he added.
The release didn't give any information about the victims, such as their ages, nor did it outline the circumstances of what happened. The sheriff did say that there "is no active threat" to citizens.
Blackburn thanked the agencies that responded and assisted -- a list that also included ambulance crews from North Big Horn Hospital in Lovell and Powell Valley Hospital and the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation.
