Powell Middle School eighth grade students had the opportunity to explore a wide range of career pathways during the first-ever Career Connections Day, hosted at the Northwest College Center for Training and Development.
Students rotated through a series of interactive career stations led by local professionals and educators, providing them valuable insight into careers that are in high demand across the Big Horn Basin and Wyoming. Each session provided an overview of career pathways, training requirements, and the benefits of entering these fields.
Career sessions included hospitality careers, law enforcement, commercial driving, energy sector, healthcare and EMS education, construction trades, outdoor recreation leadership opportunities, Northwest College admissions, Hathaway Scholarship overview, and supports available from the Pathways to Progress Disability Innovation Fund Grant Program.
“This event is about helping students to begin thinking about their future in a real and tangible way,” said school counselors Brittany Wenke and Lisa Fitzgerald. “By connecting them with professionals and hands on learning experiences, they’re able to see the many options available to them in the future.”
Powell Middle School appreciates the partnership of Northwest College, along with the many local businesses, industry professional, and community partners who contributed their time and expertise to support students.
