Defoe-Love receives community grant to pursue nursing degrees

Posted

Amiya Defoe-Love, a Powell High School grad and Northwest College student, was recently awarded a Community Education Grant from Chapter P of the P.E.O. Sisterhood in Powell, Wyoming.

The Community Grant was established by Chapter P in 2020 to help provide opportunities for local women to further advance their education and professional work. The grant is funded solely by the personal donations of women who belong to P.E.O.’s Powell’s Chapter P.

Defoe-Love is concurrently pursuing an A.D.N. at Northwest College and a B.S.N. at Boise State University with the goal of becoming a pediatric nurse practitioner. While attending school, she also works three jobs to fund her education. Defoe-Love is confident her passion for learning, determination and willingness to dedicate herself wholeheartedly to her work will serve her well in the health care field, the organization said in a release.

Defoe-Love is currently  scheduled to graduate from Northwest College with her A.D.N. in December of 2026 and hopes to earn her B.S.N from Boise State at that same time or shortly thereafter.
