If Mike Conners’ impact to Park County wasn’t clear already, the amount of people who packed the county commissioners meeting room at the courthouse in early March made it clear.
Conners retired earlier this year after 36 years at the county, culminating as the county chief information officer, and before that as a communications officer for the Park County Sheriff’s Office.
“When I got hired in '88 I mean, it was like a dream come true,” he told the assembled crowd. “And I have had the luxury of working with the best bosses, the best coworkers, and some of the best friends I've ever had, and it's been a hell of a run for the last 36 years. Thank you just doesn't seem to be sufficient.”
He was presented with plaques by the commissioners and Park County Sheriff Darrell Steward.
“We appreciate all your service to us and what you've done for the sheriff's department over the years,” Steward said, adding, “You brought us out of paper copies into the technology age.”
