Coming off from the hit and sold out run of “The Wizard of Oz” this past fall, The Cody Theatre Company, under the direction of Elizabeth Fernandez, presents its spring production of “Nunsense” by Dan Goggin.
Performances are at The Cody Theatre, 1171 Sheridan Ave., in Cody, on Friday, March 13 at 7 p.m., Saturday, March 14 at 7 p.m., and Sunday, March 15 at 4 p.m.
This musical comedy is about a group of nuns who find themselves in a predicament after their cook, Sister Julia, accidentally poisons 52 of their sisters. To raise funds for the burials, the remaining five nuns decide to stage a variety show. The musical humorously explores their misadventures as they attempt to manage the fundraiser while dealing with the chaos that ensues from their unique situation.
While the cast size for this production is smaller, all six have been stars in past Cody Theatre Company productions. They include: Reverand Mother Sister Mary Regina (Drew Murray), Sister Mary Amnesia (Kathryn Lowell), Sister Robert Anne (Rachel Coffman), Sister Mary Hubert (Amy Bonfiglio), Sister Mary Leo (Willow Fernandez) and The Sisters Stage Manager/Musical Director (Cynthia Kaelberer).
For the first time in The Cody Theatre Company’s history a live band will play the score for the entirety of the musical. Featuring on piano, Abigail Mars; cello, Lydia Mars; flute, Tina Wright; bass, Ewan Duncan; and saxophone, Don
Christman.
