CODY — Powell High School students will have even more chances to discover health care careers thanks to a new partnership with Cody Regional Health to offer “Immersion Days,” providing students with an opportunity to explore health care career paths directly within the hospital environment.
This program will allow approximately 15 students from Powell High School’s career and technical education program to experience a full day of hands-on learning alongside CRH's health care professionals.
Participating CRH departments include the Acute Care Unit (ACU) and Critical Care Unit (CCU), Radiology, Emergency Medical Services (EMS/EMT), Rehabilitation Services, Women's Health, and Surgical Services. Students will spend a full workday, from approximately 8 a.m.-5 p.m., paired with experienced health care staff members to gain practical knowledge and understanding of various health care roles and responsibilities.
“We’re thrilled to open our doors to students who are curious about health care careers,” said Ashley Trudo, marketing director at Cody Regional Health, in a release. “This immersive experience is essential in helping students understand the realities and rewards of working in healthcare. We’re proud to support the education and inspiration of the next generation of health care professionals in our community.”
Department leaders at CRH have expressed enthusiasm for this initiative.
“Our staff members are excited to share their passion and knowledge with Powell High School students,” said Dick Smith, human resources officer at CRH. “Having students experience a full day in a real health care setting allows them to see firsthand the impact they could have in the medical field. We look forward to mentoring these students and potentially inspiring future careers at Cody Regional Health.”
The immersion days are planned to start this spring.
