CODY — After more than six decades as a cornerstone of the local arts community, Cody Country Art League is changing its name.
The rebranding to CodyArts | Gallery + Creative Center is, Director Rene Huge said in a release, about opening the doors even wider and celebrating the rich tapestry of art in all its forms. “CodyArts is dedicated to continuing the mission of enriching our community through the visual arts, and this new name will help better reflect our commitment to a vibrant and artistic future as we continue to add more offerings for locals and visitors alike,” she said.
Founded in 1964, many artists have walked through these doors, and the organization has long served as a gathering place for artists and art enthusiasts, hosting exhibitions, classes, and programs for all ages that harness the power of creativity to benefit the entire community. Over the years, many artists have launched their careers from within these walls.
Huge said CodyArts offers a fresh, approachable identity while honoring its 60-year legacy.
“With this transition, CodyArts looks forward to continuing its role as a creative center and artistic hub, connecting local and regional artists with residents and visitors from around the world,” she said.
Gallery puts on new show
Artist members from Wyoming and Montana have contributed new artwork for a special exhibition at CodyArts Gallery and Creative Center.
The new show “Earth, Wind, Water and Fire: A Celebration of the West” will officially open at the gallery formerly known as the Cody Country Art League during the Rendezvous Royale Art Walk, on Thursday, Sept. 18 , from 5-8 p.m. and will be on display through Oct. 13 at the gallery.
In addition to the varied collection of artwork in a myriad of mediums depicting the individual artists’ interpretation of the elemental theme, work by all the member artists will also be on display.
There will be appetizers and refreshments at the nonprofit community art center at 836 Sheridan Avenue, downtown next to the Cody Visitors Center.
