Club Dauntless Cody location slated for late summer opening

Posted

For Stacy Bair, who owns Club Dauntless with her husband Devin, the size and appearance of the gyms are part of the design.

“We knew that we wanted to do something for the community that was pretty flashy, kind of a bright spot in a little community that doesn’t always have new things, and we knew we wanted it to be fitness based,” she said. “It’s just neat to be able to say … we’re just podunk Wyoming but we’ve got a level of fancy gym like they do anywhere else.”

Late this summer, Bair expects to open the company’s latest gym, the biggest so far, in the region’s biggest community, Cody.

To accommodate a bigger population there are some new offerings, including a climber training space with a Kilter board, spray wall, campus boards and other training tools. It will also have basketball courts that will be for the members and also to support other community needs. The Cody facility will also be able to facilitate hot yoga and aerial yoga,  she said.

The equipment they use comes from top producer LifeFitness, and they get top-of-the-line equipment from the company.

“Our LifeFitness sales reps are always amazed that we choose the best of their offerings in communities as small as ours,” Bair said. “They say we have some of the nicest gyms in the country.”

The buildings are specifically designed to feel roomy and open.

“Our winters are so long that each building is designed tall, and with big windows to help people feel less closed in during the hard months,” she said.

The gyms are a passion project for the Bairs. She said Club Dauntless is not what the family relies on for their living, that’d be BairCo Construction, so they’ve approached the gyms first and foremost as a way to give back to the community.

“Dauntless has always been a way for us and our staff to give back to the communities,” she said. “Our local populations aren’t necessarily large enough to warrant the magnitude of the buildings and offerings.”

The first gym was planted in Lovell in 2017, and since then they’ve opened gyms in Powell and Greybull.

“I think the best thing Dauntless does is offer a premium workout experience,” Bair said. “Between the huge equipment selection, the group classes and the personal training, there is literally something for everyone.”

She said Dauntless has partnerships with many local businesses to offer corporate benefits to their staff; they do community outreach by traveling to the local care centers and schools to host classes. They even have courtesy vans they lend for free to local traveling sports teams and other groups.

“Our whole business model is based on community and that is what makes it work so well,” Bair said.
