Trick-or-treating during Clark’s annual hay ride excursion is being called “one of the best overall” with some 40 costumed youngsters participating.
Sponsored by the Clark Fire Department, the early evening event on Thursday, Oct. 31 involved two flatbed trailers with hay bales from Denny Farm for seating.
Toddlers to teens were accompanied by their parents. Despite the 45-degree weather with a cool breeze it appeared that everyone enjoyed the outing.
“This year’s happening seemed to be the most well attended in memory,” said Cayenne Dodge, assistant organizer, aiding Kristi Lewis. Dodge added that the volunteer firefighters enjoy sponsorship and all that it entails.
Besides helping kids (and some parents) off and on the trailers, the firefighters provided plenty of escort to ensure safety.
The Clark event is especially useful for youngsters, as dwellings in the community are spaced out and not conducive for receiving door-to-door treats.
Beginning at the fire station the procession made a somewhat circuitous route in metropolitan Clark, stopping at eight locations. At each stop, residents were ready to provide plenty of goodies.
The trucks and trailers hauling participants and parents were provided by Ron Coleman and Tracy Lewis.
“We are pleased at the turnout and glad that all went well,” Dodge said.
