Pro Football Hall of Famer Terrell Davis, pro wrestler Jake “The Snake” Roberts and a host of other celebrities will gather in Cody this summer to raise funds for local cancer patients.

For the fifth straight year, the local nonprofit Celebrities for a Cause is organizing a series of charity events. Between June 19-21, the organization will host professional athletes and other famous guests for a golf tournament, a “Celebrity Night” at the Cody Nite Rodeo, an 80’s-themed banquet, an event at Cody City Park and more.

Different causes are picked each year, and organizer Ryan Brown said the 2025 proceeds will assist those undergoing treatment at the Big Horn Basin Cancer Center in Cody.

“... it’s going to be set up in a fund to be used by patients to help with their co-pays, any medical expenses that are out of pocket, traveling that’s out of pocket, stuff like that,” Brown recently explained to the Powell City Council.

(Another portion will go toward the Greg Senitte Memorial Scholarship, which is awarded to a Cody High School senior entering the field of education.)

Ahead of the main fundraising events in June, Celebrities for a Cause hosted an online auction, and on April 26-27, it’s putting on a snowball softball tournament at Homesteader Park. During its regular meeting last week, the Powell city council agreed to waive the typical $300 rental fee for the softball complex to give the nonprofit a boost.

Brown told the council 100% of the money raised by the organization stays local.

He also relayed that, “this year, we do have some big celebrities coming.”

The long guest list includes former Denver Broncos wide receiver Ed McCaffrey, former Atlanta Braves closer John Rocker and former Chicago Bulls power forward Scott Williams. While the roster is stacked with athletes, it also includes other celebrities, like Jessica Parsons of Torrington and her Colombian fiance, Juan David Daza, who appear on the TLC reality show “90 Day Fiancé.”

Beyond the marquee events, seven of the former major leaguers are putting on a baseball camp for 8- to 10-year-olds on June 17-18 while a few of the former NBA players are hosting a June 19 camp, both in Cody.

All told, Brown said it amounts to nearly a week’s worth of events in Cody.
