A Cody man who was trying to use the McDonald’s drive-thru reportedly drove into the restaurant on Monday afternoon.
Authorities allege 72-year-old Doug Blough was drunk when he hit the building at a low speed. No significant damage was reported.
Powell police responded to McDonald’s around 3 p.m. and found Blough in the drive-thru in a blue Ford pickup.
Blough told police he stopped at McDonald’s for a bite to eat after playing golf at the Powell Golf Course; he reportedly said he drank two beers during the round.
Officer Carson Olsen wrote in an affidavit that Blough’s speech was slurred and slow, his eyes were red and watery, he smelled faintly of alcohol and he was “very unstable on his feet.”
Blough was arrested after sobriety tests indicated that he was impaired, Olsen wrote. Results of a breath test were not included in the document.
At a Tuesday morning appearance in Park County Circuit Court, Blough pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor charge of driving while under the influence of alcohol for a second time in 10 years. His bond was set at $2,500 cash or surety and he was released from custody Tuesday afternoon.
While he awaits further proceedings, Blough must participate in the Park County Treatment Court’s pretrial testing program, among other conditions.
