CHEYENNE — The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is preparing to open the entry period for its 2027 Conservation Stamp Art Contest. The annual competition selects a winner whose artwork will be featured on the state’s annual collectible conservation stamp.
The featured species for the 2027 contest is the Arctic grayling. The grayling is a distinctive native fish, recognizable by its large, sail-like dorsal fin. Its native population has declined sharply due to habitat loss, making it a focal point for the Game and Fish’s conservation and restoration efforts.
Professional entries will be accepted from Jan. 2-March 31, 2026. Submissions for student categories are open now and will close April 10. Complete rules and requirements are available at wgfd.wyo.gov/get-involved/contests-awards/conservation-stamp-art-show-winners.
The winner of the 2026 Stamp Art Contest was announced as Michael Patrick Bailey of Newburgh, Indiana. His winning pika entry will be featured on the 2026 conservation stamp.
