On Saturday, nearly a dozen Powell area residents competed in the 25th annual Bighorn Trail Run in Dayton among tough conditions.

Coming off a breakthrough win earlier this month, the Powell Pioneer baseball team dropped a series of games last week — including a couple by the thinnest of margins.

Two coaches from Powell High School — Ray Bieber and Scott Smith — have been nominated for the National High School Athletic Coaches Association Coach of the Year Award. The NHSACA’s National Convention is being held in Peoria, Illinois, this week with the awards banquet Wednesday.

Fifty-eight teams from around the country were represented at the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper last week and the Northwest College men’s rodeo team took 12th.

Bott places eighth at CNFR

Powell’s Bryce Bott finished eighth in the nation at the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper (CNFR) on Saturday in tie-down roping — an improvement from a year ago, when he finished 16th.

Three NWC cowboys make finals at CNFR

Heading into tonight's championship round at the College National Finals Rodeo, Northwest College will have three cowboys competing in four events.

Northwest College will have two new soccer coaches for this upcoming fall season: Stan Rodrigues as the men’s soccer coach and Jessica Lum as the interim women’s coach. They’ll fill the vacancy created when Rob Hill — who had coached both teams — left in March to be a technical coordinator for a soccer club in Boise, Idaho.

On Friday night, the Powell Little League Juniors baseball team is inviting the community to enjoy a doubleheader against Worland with game times at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
