‘Wild West’ Jubilee celebration in Clark set for Saturday

Posted

With a theme noting Wyoming’s cowboy state nickname, the Clark community's annual Jubilee celebration will ride out Saturday, June 22 with a “Wild West” themed parade at 9 a.m.

The parade and following rodeo, with no admission fee for spectators, are set at the Clark Pioneer Recreation Center. Parade entrants will gather at the nearby fire hall at 8:30 a.m., then move onto Road 1Ab (Canyon Road) and move past the rec center. The procession, affectionately known as the world's smallest parade, will move a few hundred yards away; then return for another pass before the cheering observers.

Refreshments including coffee, juice and doughnuts, courtesy of Canyon Real Estate and the rec center, will be available prior to the parade.

Amateur wranglers will show their skills at the Clark Arena behind the rec center beginning at 11 a.m. Contests will be barrel racing, flag race, pole bending and ribbon race. Events are open in four age categories, 10 and younger, 11 to 13, 14 to 17 and 18 and older. There is a $5 entry fee and sign-ups will be taken prior to events for those who did not register earlier.

Fun, no-charge events prior to riding competition will be held immediately after the national anthem at the arena. Designed for children younger than 8, the contests will be mutton bustin', boot race and stick horse race.

During the rodeo there will be a food concession adjacent to the arena. The menu will include burgers, beverages, snacks and pit chicken. The Jubilee is sponsored by the Clark Pioneer Recreation Center.
