Wreaths Across America 2022 ceremony will be observed in Park County Dec. 17 by the Civil Air Patrol to honor veterans.
The Yellowstone Regional Composite Squadron of CAP will place wreaths on veterans’ graves at Riverside Cemetery in Cody and Crown Hill Cemetery in Powell that day. A short ceremony at 9 a.m. at the Absaroka Senior Living Facility at 2401 Cougar Avenue in Cody will precede the wreath laying.
The staff and residents of Absaroka Senior Living helped the squadron acquire over 600 wreaths to place on veterans’ graves at Riverside Cemetery.
At 10 a.m. wreaths will be placed at Riverside Cemetery in Cody. Any community member who would like to help is welcome.
At Crown Hill Cemetery in Powell, placement of 100 wreaths will begin between 10 and 10:30 a.m. Again, community members are welcome to help.
YRCS appreciates everyone who has purchased wreaths or volunteers who help to lay wreaths. Volunteers are welcome to place a wreath on a specific veteran’s grave. Wreaths Across America ceremonies will occur around the country at 3,400 cemeteries. The wreath laying was started to commemorate veterans at Arlington National Cemetery and has grown each year to incorporate more sites.
