I too would like to thank Alan Simpson for his excellent letter, as well as Mickey Waddell for her enlightening discussion.
Then I would like to thank Jim McEvoy for his letter regarding our new Supreme Court Justice Jackson.
For your cartoonist to suggest that Justice Jackson struck out with “softball” questions, after the grilling she received from the GOP members of the Senate Judiciary Committee, is beyond disrespectful. I felt ashamed and infuriated as I watched Sens. Lindsey Graham, Ted Cruz, Josh Hawley and others question this woman while refusing to permit her to answer them completely.
And this, after at least one of them voted to confirm her appointment to the Appellate Court only one year ago. And also considering the facts that she had the support of the American Bar Association and more than 60 law enforcement agencies, as McEvoy pointed out.
