The Powell High School drama club is putting on a play about superheroes and villains geared toward a younger audience than many of their recent productions.
Productions are Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. at Powell High School. The club is also performing for the elementary schools.
This tale, “Superheroes Unite,” follows the crimes committed in Nova City by Colonel Mustard and his sidekick Hemlock, leading to calls for a superhero rescue. Holding an audition for their superhero protector, the citizens of Nova City are introduced to many amazing and unique characters and their powers, ranging from super strength to quoting Shakespeare. With a surprise attack on City Hall by Colonel Mustard, citizens and heroes of all powers join together to protect their home.
Director Jeff Greaham said it was important to produce an elementary-focused play for both the audience and the actors.
“We have some freshmen getting started and it is great getting some of these younger kids a chance to work on their acting chops,” Greaham said.
He said it’d been awhile since the last youth-directed play, so it was time.
Tickets will be sold at the door at $3 for students and $6 for adults.
