Dear editor:
I give two thumbs up to Susan Hoffert for her excellent letter to the editor of Jan. 5, 2023. Ms. Hoffert’s letter calls out Sen. Lummis for voting in favor of the monstrous, misnamed, “Respect for Marriage Act.”
In short, Sen. Lummis attempts to justify herself at every breath, trying to support both sides of the issue collectively and doing so for neither. She says, “I find solace in people and organizations that share my beliefs.” The Greek word “Pisteuo,” translated as “To believe,” means “to be persuaded of, to place confidence in, to trust and rely on.”
As Christians, we are to “place our confidence in, trust and rely on the Lord God almighty. I have to wonder who Sen. Lummis is trusting. The demons believe there is a God, (James 2:19), but they don’t “believe” in him. If one is going to reference the Bible, God’s holy word, it should not only be our belief but our conviction too. In that regard, Sen. Lummis falls way short.
