Have you ever been given a task and you have a million ideas of how you will accomplish it, but when setting out to do it, none of them seem right? Well, that is me writing this right now. When you have the springs of living water to draw from, it is sometimes difficult to capture what you want to say or what needs to be said.
So, with this in mind, I want to encourage the saints to study the scriptures themselves. The responsibility of the Christian is to be salt and light to the world around us — a world that is mired down in the muck and grime of sin and enveloped in spiritual darkness.
We cannot accomplish this without the word of God flowing through us. It is impossible to be a minister of reconciliation without the words of reconciliation.
I know that sometimes it can feel overwhelming and often it is. However, if you are truly born again, you have the indwelling of the spirit of God that was sent by Jesus Christ.
The Holy Spirit of God has promised to guide you into all truth. We have all truth in the canonical 66 books of the Bible and with it everything necessary to live a sanctified Christian life.
There was a saying during the Reformation, “Ade Fontes,” meaning back to the sources. I’m not asking you to learn Biblical Greek, but what I am asking you is to get back to the book. Get back to the source of our knowledge of God.
We should all be theologians and we should all be trying to plumb the depths of the endless God — not to be knowledgeable, but to know him and to bring him glory, for the lamb is worthy.
