Racers flocked to Bighorn Trail Run in June

Racers battled both elevation and distance as they competed in the Bighorn Trail Run in mid-June. Nearly 30 runners from the area completed at least 18 miles of the race with three finishing the full 100 miles.

Over 900 competitors from around the country completed at least 18 miles of the Bighorn Trail Run, with some racers taking nearly 35 hours to finish the 100 mile race.

Runners flocked to the Bighorn Mountains in June, taking part in the Bighorn Trail Run, with four racing distances ranging from 18 miles all the way up to 100.

The three finishers of the 100-mile race from the Big Horn Basin included Coulter Neves from Otto with a time of 28 hours, 56 minutes and 36.9 seconds to take 58th overall, Cleve Wilson of Lovell finished 181st in 34:39:13.12 and Nolan Dove of Cody who finished in 34:50:04.39 to take 192nd.

Powell’s 52-mile race finishers included Ladell Merritt who finished 41st in 12:26:04.35, Jeff Rode finished 91st in 14:15:47.7, Alex Aguirre who finished 95th in 14:18.38.53, and Levi Cvikel who placed 108th in 14:28:12.01.

Area finishers of the 32-mile race included Brad Metzler of Powell in 23rd (6:07:47.58); Rodney Miears of Cody in 31st (6:20:12.53); Seeger Wormald of Powell in 61st (6:59:30.3); Aunika Kleinfeldt of Powell in 75th (7:11:03.83); Stephanie Metzler of Powell in 104th (7:34.42.83); Elise Lowe of Cody in 115th (7:45:08.02); Hunter Baum of Wapiti in 135th (8:00:03.18); Ben Larsen of Cody in 137th (8:02:50.11); Joel Baum of Wapiti in 186th (8:59:58.72) and Kent Herren of Cowley in 235th (11:05:00.73).

Area finishers in the 18-mile race included William Rose of Lovell in 13th (2:47:54.92); James Comer of Powell in 15th (2:49:50.6); Tiffany Brando of Powell in 36th (3:12:24.26); Calvin Brown of Basin in 39th (3:14:04.32); Lindsey Hazen of Lovell in 89th (3:34:19.73); Sawyer Wormald of Powell in 112th (3:48:11.76); Aubrey Walker of Lovell in 119th (3:48:59.49); Genevieve Asher of Cody in 127th (3:53:45.37); Nancy West of Powell in 170th (4:18:13.01); Rachel Whipple of Powell in 225th (4:46:57.55); M. Lynn Hitz of Lovell in 230th (4:49:22.91); Sara Skalsky of Powell in 260th (5:10:15.17) and Mary Skalsky of Powell in 305th (5:52:37.47).
