Tribune photo by Randal HorobikTeam resumes action on New Year's EveThe Yellowstone Quake enjoyed a pre-holiday buffet of goals on Saturday night as Wyoming's NORPAC team received goals from six different players in a 7-1 rout of the Bozeman Ice Dogs. The win came one day after the Quake dropped a 4-3 overtime decision against Billings. The split of games on the Riley Arena ice gives the Quake a 17-10 record entering the holiday recess. The Yellowstone Quake are off this week. The team will resume play when the Ice Dogs return to Cody for a Dec. 31 New Year's Eve contest.

Tracey Sato began the scoring festival 5:27 into the second period. Over the next 12 minutes, Chris Rinaldi would light the lamp twice. Teammates Nick Kent and Alex O'Dea added goals.

Quake forward Kory Sosnowski assisted on four of the five scoring plays, increasing his NORPAC America West-leading assist count to 34 for the season. Rinaldi also moved up to second on the conference standings for goals scored, increasing his season count to 23.

Mathew Peddie and Tyler Roberts got in the action in the third period, increasing the Quake's lead to 7-0. Alex Gutierrez helped Bozeman avert a shutout by sneaking the Ice Dogs' 24th shot attempt of the night past goalie Alex Steidler with 47 seconds remaining.

Friday's contest against Billings also contained a hectic second period. After the Bulls and the Quake skated to a scoreless first period that featured just 20 total shot attempts by the two clubs, Rinaldi broke the deadlock with a goal just 80 seconds into the second period.

Rinaldi's tally stood alone on the scoreboard until just after the midway point of the second period. A frantic 35 seconds saw the two teams combine for three goals to run the score to 2-2. Tyler Roberts was credited with the Quake's second tally of the night during that span.

Billings grabbed the lead five minutes into the final period. The 3-2 lead held up until Rinaldi struck again off a feed from Mathew Schulz with 2:35 remaining in the contest to plunge the contest into overtime.

Skating four-on-four to begin the overtime, the Quake, who entered the weekend leading the NORPAC in penalty minutes, were hit with their sixth infraction of the night.

The Bulls wasted little time. Keith Tessin connected on a shot from in front of the Quake goal just 33 seconds into the power play, emptying the Bulls' bench onto the ice in celebration.

The Yellowstone Quake take this week off. The team will return to action on New Year's Eve with a 7:30 p.m. contest at Riley Arena against Bozeman. The team will also be in action Jan. 1-2 with road games at Butte and Billings.
