After registering an 8-2 win over Bozeman on New Year's Eve, the team blasted Butte 11-2 in a New Year's Day contest. The two wins were part of a three-victory stretch by the Quake. The team wrapped up a whirlwind 72 hours on the ice with a 6-5 overtime victory over the Billings Bulls on Saturday. With the results, the Quake takes a 20-10 record into cross-division play in Billings this weekend.

Chris Rinaldi fired in five goals on Thursday night as the Quake overwhelmed the Bozeman Ice Dogs. Rinaldi's hat trick was completed just minutes into the second period as the Cody skaters unleashed 80 shot-attempts on goal during the night.

Jake Doty added a hat trick all his own, capping a three-goal night in the third period.

For the season, Rinaldi now has 28 goals to show for 26 games played.

The names changed on Saturday, but the results remained the same as the Quake overwhelmed an overmatched opponent. At Butte, Alex Odea and Mathew Peddie lit the lamp three times each with goals while teammate and America West Division assist-leader Kory Sosnowski chimed in with two goals of his own.

In the weekend's only competitive game, the Quake appeared to be on the way to a comfortable victory until the Billings Bulls slapped home a pair of goals in the final four minutes of the third period to rally back from a 5-3 deficit and force overtime. The excitement was short-lived for the Bulls.

Mathew Schulz flicked the puck into the net just 70 seconds into the extra period to seal the win for the Yellowstone Quake and exact a measure of revenge. The Bulls had scored an overtime victory on their last visit to Riley Arena.

Six different players scored for the Quake in Saturday's win.

At the midpoint of the season, the Quake remain in third place in the NORPAC America West standings with 40 points. The team continues to trail second-place Missoula by four points in the standings.

Division battles will take a back seat this week to cross-division action. The Quake will play three games in Billings against Pacific Division opponents.
