Third time’s a charm?

Powell Valley Hospital Board chair RJ Kost said the four candidates being brought in to be interviewed for the CEO job are all promising as the hospital moves closer to making an offer during its third attempt at hiring a new leader.

Kost updated the board at its monthly meeting Monday, noting in-person  interviews with the candidates were scheduled to be done within the next week.

“It looks like some potential, some good candidates again,” Kost said.

He added that with Memorial Day coming up and the end of the school year it’s been tough to get candidates to Powell, but they were making it work and about to finalize the fourth candidate they’d be bringing in to interview.

After the interviews, hospital leadership will sit down with medical staff leadership to discuss the candidates before determining who, if any, to extend an offer to.

If an offer is accepted, the new CEO will replace Terry Odom, who announced last August she’d be retiring. She’s already agreed to stay on past her planned retirement date to ensure a smooth transition.

After not being able to come to contract terms with the top candidate in the first round and deciding to not make an offer during the second round after a finalist dropped out of the running, the search committee listed the ad for a CEO for the third time starting March 28.
