Powell’s first baby of the year arrives

Posted

On the second day of the new year at 4:32 p.m. Powell welcomed the town’s first baby of 2024.

Lydia Rose Robertson was born to Erin and Jake Robertson, of Cody, as the family’s fifth child. She came into the world at 7 pounds and 11 ounces and “she’s perfect,” Erin said.

Lydia’s name was chosen after she was born, but it comes with a lot of meaning.

“Lydia means beautiful and noble and I just thought she was really pretty,” Erin said of the comfortably swaddled baby in her lap.

At 10 a.m. on Jan. 3 the peaceful baby was meeting her grandmother. She said the child’s name softly and then hummed into her swaddle while holding her gently. It was a special moment.

Lydia will grow up with three older brothers and a sister who’s also the oldest of the family. Despite the age difference the sisters have a connection. They share the same middle name.

“She has one sister who’s 18, and her middle name is Rose, so they’re going to share that,” Erin said.
