Powell’s 307Health named one of Wyoming’s ‘success stories’

307Health, Powell’s pioneering direct primary care medical group, will be among a half-dozen businesses and nonprofits featured at the 2019 Governor’s Business Forum next month.

“We selected these six success stories to highlight not only their contributions to Wyoming but also in hopes that their positive stories inspire others,” said Cindy DeLancey, president of the Wyoming Business Alliance/Wyoming Heritage Foundation. “Through grit, expertise in their fields and passion, these incredible companies and nonprofits are on the ground making a difference in Wyoming. We want to honor their accomplishments.”

Dr. Michael Tracy and Dr. Robert Chandler co-founded 307Health in 2015 to “address growing constraints and challenges currently in the fee-for-service medical system,” according to a news release from the Business Alliance. Tracy and Chandler — who are each set to speak at the Nov. 12-14 Business Forum in Cheyenne — have since been joined by a third doctor, Dean Bartholomew.

307Health strives to: “improve the patient experience of health care, measurably improve healthcare delivery, decrease the per capita cost of healthcare, and improve the medical liability climate through improved patient-provider communication,” the release says.

The Powell medical group is not the only Big Horn Basin business being honored, with Merlin’s Hide Out of Thermopolis also being recognized as a success story.

Head craftsman and namesake Merlin Heinze founded Merlin’s Hide Out in Thermopolis in 1999. He and his wife, Barb, handcraft fur and leather products they ship worldwide. The Heinzes “source prime quality hides locally from the Rocky Mountain region and craft these into finished products including stunning Buffalo Fur Coats that have been featured prominently in Hollywood movies,” including Quentin Tarantino’s “The Hateful Eight” in 2015.

“Each product created by Merlin’s Hide Out is a handmade heirloom and can be custom tailored to a customer’s needs,” the release says.

The other businesses and nonprofits set to be featured at next month’s Governor’s Business Forum include the energy company ExxonMobil, Sheridan-based central vacuum system manufacturer Vacutech, the Wyoming Association for Career and Technical Education and the Wyoming Mining Natural Resource Foundation.

The Wyoming Business Alliance/Wyoming Heritage Foundation is co-hosting the forum with Gov. Mark Gordon. Over the three-day gathering, more than 50 speakers representing national, regional and local experts will be discussing how to move Wyoming forward and address challenges like workforce issues and fiscal problems facing the state.
