Fae McNair, a seventh grade student at Powell Middle School, received her first promotion to airman in the Civil Air Patrol Cadet program. Airman McNair recently joined the Yellowstone Regional Composite Squadron and quickly completed all requirements to earn her first stripe, the Curry Achievement. McNair’s first achievement is named after Major General John F. Curry, the first National Commander of the Civil Air Patrol. He was also a strong advocate for women aviators, a path that McNair is interested in pursuing.
As part of her achievement, she started learning about leadership, passed a basic stationary drill test and fitness test and attended a character development lesson. McNair has also been an active participant in squadron meetings.
The Yellowstone Regional Composite Squadron meets every Tuesday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Math/Science Building on the Northwest College campus in Powell. More details are available from capcommander@gmail.com.
