Powell local earns rank of Eagle Scout

Powell Troop 3026 received its latest Eagle Scout on March 30 following Andrew Valdez’s Court of Honor at the American Legion in Powell. Becoming an Eagle Scout is the highest award given to youth in Boy Scouts of America, according to a press release.

For Valdez’s Eagle Scout project he was responsible for the construction of a Gaga Ball pit at Homesteader Park in August of 2022. Valdez was responsible for construction, design, procuring donations and securing city permits in order to build the pit.
Valdez was surrounded by friends, family and community members at the ceremony who gathered to support him and speak of his many accomplishments and leadership qualities that qualify him for the rank of Eagle Scout.

“You’re a huge positive impact on everybody,” Valdez’s high school wrestling coach Nick Fulton said. “Don’t forget that, you know, don’t forget the Boy Scout lessons that you’ve learned along the way.”
