Powell Christian School students enjoy A Night with the Stars

The Powell Christian School presented A Night with the Stars on Friday, April 21, from 6-8 p.m. in the Trinity Bible Church gym.

Students from preschool to eighth grade put their projects about the solar system on display. There was also an inflatable planetarium on loan from Northwest College along with a host of booths that provided activities for families to enjoy. Young and old could climb inside the monstrous black balloon and hear and see a short presentation on light and the planets. Then they could wander through the numerous booths including:

1. Space on the Face (face painting)

2. Out of this World snacks and refreshments

3. Constellation building with marshmallows and toothpicks

4. Creating phases of the moon with Oreos

5. Visualizing constellations with dixie cups, pin holes and a flashlight

6. “Feeling” like an astronaut

7. Space trivia

8. Align planets with painted rocks

9. Solar system bean bag toss

The general intention of the whole evening was a chance for families to have fun together. Mrs. Frizzle (also known as teacher Christy Muecke) made an appearance.
