The community is invited to join Park County Open Lands for the 2nd Annual Community Picnic on Friday, June 28, from 5-8 p.m. This picnic will be a family friendly event with opportunities to meet the team and learn about Park County Open Lands’ work in protecting local agricultural land, wildlife habitat, and open spaces, including the program’s first easement at the Four C Ranch.
The 2nd Annual Community Picnic will take place at Canal Park, located behind the Cody Library and Rec Center, from 5-8 p.m. The event will feature live music by Jeff Troxel and a catered meal from The Laughing Pig. Face painting and a bouncy house for kids will make the picnic fun for the whole family.
“The community picnic this year is an opportunity to celebrate incredible success and continued hard work,” said Jarren Kuipers, Park County Open Lands advisory council chair. “We and our landowner partners closed our first easement this year and started several others down the path toward completion. They were the first bold steps toward backing up a culture of agriculture and wildlife habitat with concrete open space protections. This community event celebrates the act of moving from what should be done to what is being done. It’s time to anticipate with confidence a future where the open space values of Park County are continued for all generations.”
Tickets for the picnic are now available for purchase for $15. Children under 5 can attend free of charge. It is highly recommended that tickets be secured early: jhlandtrust.org/events/pcolpicnic2.
The organization is also hosting a raffle, with the chance to win a range of unique prizes centered around enjoying the local landscape and offerings. Raffle prizes include a half-day guided horseback trail ride for four out of the Bill Cody Ranch, a guided hike up Pat O’Hara, a $100 gift certificate to Wyoming Legacy Meats and a hand-crafted juniper display table. The raffle winners will be announced during the picnic, but winners will not need to be present to claim their prizes.
The event is sponsored by Mooncrest Ranch, Sage Civil Engineering and Engineering Associates and is supported by the following: Burg Simpson, C&B Equipment, Edward Jones, Fremont Motor Powell, Midwest Fence, Nielson & Associates, Northern Gardens, Pinnacle Bank, Sunlight Sports and Yellowstone Motors.
