Panther receiver Stenerson heads to Shrine Bowl

Posted

Recent Powell High School graduate Trey Stenerson is heading to Casper for the 51st annual Shrine Bowl on Saturday.

Stenerson was the lone Panther named to the annual event that brings together the top seniors in Wyoming football from around the state regardless of class for an All-Star type game, raising money in the process for the Shriners Children’s Hospitals.

He is a two-time All-State selection at wide receiver for the Panthers, having been a part of the varsity team for Powell over the past three years.

He finished his career with 106 catches for 1,734 yards as well as 23 touchdown receptions.

Stenerson finished with a PHS record of 249 yards in a single game on just six catches this past year, recording that feat against Douglas in September.
That broke the school record of receiving yards set by Matt Hartford in 2000.

The Shrine Bowl will not be the final football game for Stenerson, as he signed in December to continue his academic and athletic career in the fall at Chadron State College in Chadron, Nebraska.

Stenerson will compete as part of the North squad, which leads the series all-time with a record of 26-20-3.

Stenerson is the first Panther selected since the 2022 edition of the annual game, when Toran Graham, Zach Ratcliff and Lane Shramek participated.

Powell has had a participant in the annual game in 42 of the 51 Shrine Bowls.
