PAC to host annual triathlon after year off

Powell Aquatic Center is set to host its annual PAC Triathlon on Saturday, May 29.

The event begins with a 500-yard swim, which equates to 20 lengths of the pool. Contestants will then bike 15.5 miles out and back before the final portion of the triathlon, running. Athletes will run 3.1 miles out and back to finish the race.

After COVID-19 scrapped the event in 2020, Powell Aquatic Center co-director Tanya Bonner is thrilled for the event’s return.

“Since we were unable to hold last year’s triathlon, we’re super excited to bring it back,” Bonner said. “Being the first event of its kind this season, it’s a good warm up for other events. We’re very low key and have a lot of fun.”

Registration for the event is due Sunday, May 23. It costs $30 for solo competitors and $60 for teams.
