Park County went into primary Election Day Tuesday with 17,679 registered voters.
Over one-fourth of those voters had already cast their ballots before the polls opened at 7 a.m. Tuesday — either by early in-person voting at the elections office or by absentee ballot. Early in-person voting was the choice of 2,355 county voters.
That accounted for 4,521 votes already in the books before poll opening Tuesday. More than 400 early voters completed ballots at the courthouse on Aug. 15 alone.
A total 2,216 absentee ballots had been returned to the elections office by the close of business on Aug. 15. Over 2,500 absentee ballots were requested for the primary. To be counted they had to be returned by poll closing time at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
