The Northwest College Intercultural Programs will celebrate Pakistan Resolution Day on Thursday, March 23 with a presentation on the country’s history and a lunch featuring authentic Pakistani cuisine. The event is free and open to the public.

The event begins at noon in the Intercultural House, 565 College Dr., and will be led by Pakistani student Om Kumar Lohana, who is attending NWC as a scholarship recipient through the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program in his native country. The day is a national holiday in Pakistan to commemorate the ratification of the country’s first constitution, establishing its independence from India and becoming the world’s first Islamic republic.

Pakistan is the fifth-largest country in the world with a population of approximately 240 million people, according to the most recent official estimate by the United Nations. It borders the nations of Afghanistan, Iran, India and China, as well as the Arabian Sea in South Asia. Pakistan has also been designated a Major Non-NATO Ally (MNNA) by the United States government.
