While the new student center is by far the most obvious project, the Northwest College campus is alive this summer with construction sites.
That includes more parking lot maintenance, something the college did plenty of last year as well. This year they’ve focused on the Johnson Fitness Center and North Cabre parking lots.
Work on the North Cabre lot is already well underway — last week an excavator crew from Harris Trucking was digging far below pavement level to prepare for an overhaul of the pavement.
The work on the two parking lots was estimated in April at $650,000.
Work on the Yellowstone drainage to Division Street and Simpson drainage to Division Street are still pending. A final agreement with the city regarding a stormwater retention basin to be built by the city on campus, as well as the college connecting to more of the city’s stormwater system to assist in runoff is pending. President Lisa Watson said at the May board meeting that the agreement had been reviewed multiple times and was with the city attorney.
