The new Northwest College student center has reached the point where the college is now paying the electrical bill.
"The electricity is hooked up at the new student center," NWC President Lisa Watson told trustees at Tuesday night's meeting. "And that's a good sign."
It's yet another sign the student center is progressing toward fall completion.
Beyond that, the installation of the metal panel siding is nearing completion, Watson said in her report to the board, and earthwork is in full swing to clean up the construction site. Concrete and landscaping will be the focus for the near future on the outside; the hanging of drywall inside the building is almost complete, and concrete floors are being polished along with ongoing texturing, plumbing and electrical work.
"The project’s steady pace continues to bring a sense of reassurance and excitement to campus," Watson said in the report.
Soccer fieldhouse
The design work for the soccer fieldhouse is complete. Groathouse Construction has begun dismantling the drop ceiling, reviewing plans, ordering materials, and marking the concrete for wall placement. Current estimates put the completion of the fieldhouse in late August, assuming all materials arrive promptly.
