The public is invited to join the Northwest College Intercultural Program in its celebration of Maslenitsa, an Eastern Slavic folk holiday also known as “pancake week” or “butter week.” This free event is being held on Friday, Feb. 24 at 5 p.m. in the NWC Intercultural House located at 565 College Drive in Powell.
Maslenitsa is a popular festival usually celebrated the last week of February, marking the transition from winter to spring. It is typically filled with colorful rites, dances, songs, games, and fairs. Participants at NWC’s Maslenitsa will enjoy a lively evening that includes a variety of blinis (pancakes) and tea, games, music, dances, and arts and crafts.
