In the most expensive back and forth legislative race in Park County, incumbent Republican Rep. Sandy Newsome won her Tuesday primary contest in House District 24, Cody.
Newsome won the close rematch with Nina Webber by just 83 votes. The final count was Newsome 1,810 to Webber’s 1,727.
The difference in the primary voting is not enough to trigger an automatic recount. It would have had to be a difference of 19 or fewer votes to go to an automatic recount, the Secretary of State’s office said.
“I want to thank the voters of HD 24,” Newsome said. “I’m grateful they chose me to represent them again. I look forward to serving the next two years.”
Newsome spent $39,334.83 in her re-election campaign, while Webber reported expenditures of $15,043.38.
