Local Lore with Bob Richard: Author speaks on Yellowstone bears

Posted

At the next Local Lore with Bob Richard illustrated talk, Richard will talk about Yellowstone bears. This will coincide with Bob’s newest book about the same entitled, “The Spirit of Yellowstone Bears.”

The book is about feeding the bears in Yellowstone in the early days and includes the photographs of Ned Frost, Bob’s father Jack Richard, and Bob Richard himself. It includes black bears, grizzly bears and cinnamon bears in Yellowstone, the Yellowstone ecosystem, and a few other spectacular photographs taken from the car. It covers the history from about 1905 through current 2024 in the Yellowstone ecosystem.

The planned Simpson talk has been postponed and the museum will announce its new date in the future. If people would like a refund instead of attending the new topic, they can email membership@centerofthewest.org with a request to cancel their Local Lore reservation for May 16. They will need to provide their name and best phone number to call about issuing a refund.

The Local Lore series has become so popular that those who wish to attend must now register in advance to secure a seat. Buffalo Bill Center of the West members and those who pay regular admission to the Center may attend the talk for free, but must have reservations. Those who are not members and wish to only attend the talk will pay a $10 fee. Tickets are available online at tickets.centerofthewest.org.

The “Local Lore with Bob Richard” series is coordinated by the Center’s McCracken Research Library and takes place every other month. For 2024, remaining program dates (subject to change) include July 18, Sept. 12, Nov. 21 and Dec. 19. For more information on all upcoming Center of the West programs and events, visit centerofthewest.org/events.
