Sun, fun and time spent with friends at a ball game came to a close last week, ending with the Powell/Lovell Interleague minors and majors tournaments taking place from June 20 - 23.

Starting things off for the minor league on Monday, June 20, the Powell Isotopes defeated the Otto Fangs 17-16 — advancing into the quarter final stage of the bracket.

In the quarterfinals on June 21, two teams each from Lovell and Powell advanced to the semifinals.

The Powell RockHounds defeated the Otto Venom 13-12, and the Powell Ironbirds beat the Lovell Giants 14-3.

The Isotopes came up short against the Lovell Cubs 8-6, and the Powell Dragons lost to the Lovell Nationals 16-6.

In the semifinals, the RockHounds continued to win, defeating the Nationals 13-4 to advance to the Championship game on June 23.

The Cubs defeated the Ironbirds 8-4, setting up a Powell versus Lovell championship game in Lovell.

Lovell took advantage of stolen bases and walks to take the crown over the RockHounds, winning by a score of 17-6 to give Powell second place in the minors.

The majors kicked things off on June 20, with two play-in games to reach the semifinals.

The Powell Pirates defeated the Powell Dodgers 10-8 to advance, and the Lovell Dodgers beat the Powell Orioles 18-4 in its game.

In the semifinals, the Lovell Braves defeated the Pirates 17-3 and the Dodgers defeated the Powell White Sox 14-4 — setting up an all-Lovell final.

The Braves beat the Dodgers 5-0 to cap off the tournament, winning the majors interleague tournament.

Despite the final tournaments, the season is not over for little leaguers around the state.

The Powell All-Star teams will be in action in July,
participating in the Wyoming District 1 Tournament in Cody.

The minor league team plays at noon on July 20 against Rock Springs, and then again against Bridger Valley at noon on
July 21.

Major league plays against Big Horn on July 20 at 2 p.m. and then against Green River on July 21 at 11:30 a.m.

Games beyond that point will be determined by pool play results.
