With the first day of spring on the horizon, the Park County libraries are excited to help community members start planning their gardens. Library staff would like to remind the community that seed libraries — where you can freely check out local seeds — are available at the library branches in Powell, Cody and Meeteetse.
The libraries will also host a giveaway on the first day of spring. Anyone who checks out library materials on Monday will receive a free seed tray (while supplies last), donated by the Cody Walmart.
On Wednesday, at 5:30 p.m., the Cody Library will offer a class on “How to Start Your Garden 101.” Local Master Gardener Kathy Clarkson will teach community members how to get a jumpstart on their gardens, in our area of Wyoming, using the supplies provided by the library. The class is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be provided as well as a free seed tray, soil and seeds.
“Kickstart the new season and the opening of the Park County Seed Libraries with fun giveaways and a class by a master gardener,” library officials said in a release.
