Panther reserves win four events The Powell boys junior varsity track team came away with a runner-up finish at the Cody Invitational while the girls placed eighth overall in the final standings. The Panthers brought home four first-place awards in the JV division.Colby Gilmore captured first place in both the 100 and 200-meter races. Gilmore's winning 200-meter time of 25.4 seconds was fast enough that it would have also captured third place in the boys' varsity race. “Colby did only jumps for us last season,” said Powell High School head track coach Scott Smith. “I was asking why he didn't do sprints for us last year. He had a good day.”Also coming home with first place honors were distance runner Bodie Friday, who captured first in the 3200 meters, and the foursome of Dylan Ulmer, Zach Thiel, Rico Garcia and Tyler McCauley. The group crossed in first place in the JV 4x800 relay. On the girls' side, Layla Bradley placed in the top seven in three different events. Her best effort came at 400 meters, where she placed second in the JV division. She also placed fourth in the 200 and was seventh in the long jump. Emily Kath grabbed a third-place finish in the discus to go along with a sixth-place showing in the shot put. The Powell High School track team returns to action today (Thursday) for a 2 p.m. invitational event at Worland High School. The Powell boys junior varsity track team came away with a runner-up finish at the Cody Invitational while the girls placed eighth overall in the final standings. The Panthers brought home four first-place awards in the JV division.

Colby Gilmore captured first place in both the 100 and 200-meter races. Gilmore's winning 200-meter time of 25.4 seconds was fast enough that it would have also captured third place in the boys' varsity race.

“Colby did only jumps for us last season,” said Powell High School head track coach Scott Smith. “I was asking why he didn't do sprints for us last year. He had a good day.”
